My grampy still donates the tip he gets for being a tourguide to the local shelter. He started in 2005 as the beloved family dog Terry went to the Rainbow Bridge. After all the years, he became a fixture of this shelter somehow and as long as he can, he will donate his tip or food he bought for his tip, to help the pets in need.
I thought I will do something too and I started in 2014 to donate a part of my piggy bank every year to a special organization in France. It’s the Brigitte Bardot Fondation , FBB, who is there to help animals. We picked FBB after a blogger-friend, who sadly doesn’t blog anymore, landed in hot water. The plan of this blogger-friend was to live a peaceful & simple life in the rurals of normandy, with having animals and some ecological agriculture. In theory that’s possible, because politicians spent a lot of moneeh to create empurpled EC directives what’s pure music to our ears…. till we notice that this music has ginormous mistunes and that all the theory goes downhill in the field and mostly you go downhill with this theory. Therefore the lifeplan failed, the blogger-friend had to give her farm animals away, what were no cattle nor meat stock but pets. The only one who was there and supported her with picking up her animals was FBB and after she knew that they were in good hands, she could start to rearrange her life.
We sadly couldn’t help this friend, but we can help those who helped her. With a donation every year what makes it possible to help others…. and who knews who will be the next one who needs help…

We totally agree. Your grandpa was a very special person. The shelters are always in need of EVERYTHING! Toys, food, treats, blankets, cleaning supplies…you name it! There are so many good dogs in the shelters that need good homes!
It sad that shelters are needed for unwanted animals. Even in our remote community, we have need for one. So, my boys put aside 20% of their newspaper earnings to donate at the end of the year and I match their contribution. People are often not aware about the other items needed like food, towels, old pet items (still in good condition leashes, collars, food dishes, litter trays, etc.). Hugs to your grandpa for setting a wonderful example to those who follow.
Such a wonderful gesture from your grampy. We adopt our cats from the shelter, even did that in Germany, and we also donate food and toys a few times a year.

Excellent donating Easy. That poor lady believing in the govt. and then it falling flat. I don’t know about the govt. at times. They are no real help to us ordinary folk.
