Today we hung up the MISTLETOE.The tradition of hanging it in the house goes back to the times of the ancient Druids. It is supposed to possess mystical powers which bring good luck to the house and wards off evil spirits. It was also used as a sign of love and friendship in Norse mythology and that’s where the custom of kissing under Mistletoe comes from.

I live in the land of the Druids and we have more Mistles on the trees than leaves. Mistles are important plants, you can use them for medicine, cosmetics and black magic. Even the grave of MERLIN who was the highest Druid of Brittany is in my neighborhood and if we have better weather, I will invite you to visit him together with me in the Forest of Brocéliande – it’s a magic place!

The custom of kissing under the Mistletoe is absolutely british. The original custom was that a berry was picked from the sprig of Mistletoe before the person could be kissed and when all the berries had gone, there could be no more kissing!

I don’t know how much berries our Mistletoe has, so I try to make it EASY. I’ll place my Piggy Bank under the Mistletoe and everyone who want’s to kiss me has to pay 1 Euro in my bank. That’s fair.. there’s no such thing as a free lunch…

My mummy used to live near where the Krays are buried and used to take her friends to see their graves BOL. Not as impressive as Merlin though.

The Krays are the gangster-twins? The grave of Merlin is an interesting place, you can meet a lot of “Wizards&Witches” there – better than Harry Potter ;o)

I thought mistletoe is poisonous.
So is Taxus but you can still prepare a tea for your loved one, if he is rich and you are in the will that is.
haha Doggy but instead of the great heritage the “loved one” will decorate your crib – the result is runs&barf ;o)
It is, Kyla – the european Mistle is poisonous low to moderate – it’s dangerous for cats and small pets and the taste is very,very bitter ( the toxics came out by heat or blanch)

I am sure, but I think the high desert of Eastern Oregon doesn’t produce mistletoe. I think possibly you farm it locally…….Dusty says “Woof”
That could be a reason too – here it is very muggy the whole year – good for the mistles but bad for the hairstyle ;o)
and bad for my lungs. We moved here when I was a kid because I didn’t thrive in the moist Western Oregon climate. So, I am not human mistletoe…… Lol
