BON CHEW & COWCOW

Da fly agaric… the most colorful mushroom we know…. deadly, inedible and  dangerous…and also a  symbol of luck … how can this be? in da old times people used da fly agaric as a drug to see in da future and they also used it, soaked in milk to kill flies… so maybe to kill da flies gave it the name and the house without flies is a lucky one and therefore it is a symbol of luck? and if this guy is deadly, why the smurfs life in a fly agaric house, without dying immediately?

good question dude… we hope there is someone who can give us an answer…

while we wander through our kraal

and enjoy the colors of fall….

and the lake  we had only for us

and the water what looked like molten lead….

and with a white rose for rosy, we wish you a funny furryday and a good weekend…

  1. I am glad we don’t see those pretty mushrooms around where we live…but yes, they are beguilingly beautiful…scary, eh?!

  2. We’ve only seen that beautiful mushroom in pictures – never in person. Why is it so gorgeous and appealing if it’s poisonous?!

  3. My GBGV Life says:

    The trees in our yard are going from orange to read and falling like crazy. It is the end of the pretty season and soon will be the ugly until we get some good snow to liven things up. Happy Howloween weekend!

    OOOH, that was an ideal picture and tale of a treacherous toadstool fitting both NF and FFF!!! Thanks for joining in. As for the Smurfs, we might have to put it down to their very different skin! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  5. MadSnapper says:

    my first viewing of this deadly beauty and we hope to never see one in our spaces. there are many deadly plants here in FL for dogs, cats and people. the odd thing is the things the birds eat would kill a dog and that is a mystery to me.. sounds like this shroom has good and bad and is a mediciine of sorts. LOVE that orange tree

  6. You have a Smurf house in your yard???????

  7. Da Phenny and Da Nelly thinking that RED ‘lucky’ mushroom could talk it would tell us some tales about the ancient folks. Your fall colors are Gorgeous
    Hugs cecilia

  8. Lulu: “Ooh, our Dada says in this video game he plays you can collect mushrooms to use in potions and stuff, and this is one of them! So he looked it up once to see if it was a real mushroom, and it is!”
    Java Bean: “One of Dennis’s old friends was worried on Facebook recently because her dog was playing with one of these mushrooms. The dog is fine but Dada used his vast video game mushroom knowledge to help identify the mushroom for her.”
    Lulu: “Apparently the mushroom is poisonous but not as deadly as many others. But I still wouldn’t eat it.”
    Chaplin: “I would!”
    Charlee: “Of course you would.”

    • oooh we have a friend who would too… actually he did… it was da horror at da vet…. and guess what? as he came home he did it again… but this time the owner prevented the worst… not bad for a breed what has a human brain like they say, right? ;O)))

  9. Coming in with all the hard questions today! Unfortunately, I have no answers. I hope you find them though!

  10. We don’t have those muushrooms around here much this year, It has been way too dry. They do look pretty nd we learned a lot about them from you. And guys! Autumn is gorgeous around where you live! Alas, we hoped we would have a rise this week, but the evil deer ate the last 2 buds! Purrhps they would be afraid of you guys, they are definately NOT afraid of Cinnamon! Purrs Marv

  11. Was that breed a schnauzer. Dog Magazine called us the dog with a human brain! XOX Xena

  12. This fly agaric is quite common here in Finland, they grow in our yard every year on the same place. Northern shamans used these fly agaric to see the future, but their ladies chew it first and vomited the poison, so great shaman could fly free of nausea in the future .

  13. Whoa…that’s one colorful ‘shroom. Nothing that colorful in mushrooms here but at least we have a few colorful trees still (despite yesterday’s rain & snow). Have a ‘wagnificent’ weekend and be sure to take time to smell the pretty roses.

  14. That mushroom is definitely from outer space. Don’t eat it.

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  15. That’s a pretty mushroom but we prefer to only eat the ones our dad cooks in the skillet that come from the grocery store. BOL! You sure have some pretty fall foliage this year.

  16. Our Mama and Daddy saw some of those mushrooms while they were in Wisconsin a few years ago…but didn’t say anything about Smurfs…hmmmmmm
    Thanks for my beautimous Rosy Rose!!
    xoxo,
    Rosy

  17. Brian says:

    That must be a pretty scary mushroom even if it is pretty. I love those lake views boys!

  18. Charles Huss says:

    Those are some very good questions. If those mushrooms had taken out the smurfs then my childhood would have been better because I could have watched a show that didn’t suck so much.

  19. EEEKKK such purrty mushyroomss that are so deadly!
    Iss lovelee this Autumm…so much color an nice dayss (xcept fore THE 9 rainy dayss, mew mew mew)
    Rosey will love that white rose; it iss so dellycate an pure lookin…..
    ~~~head rubss~~~BellaDharma~~~ an ((hugss)) BellaSita Mum
  20. Are the Smurfs ghosts? Zombies? You just blew my mind.
  21. Memories of Eric and Flynn says:
    The deadly mushroom looks very pretty. Lots of questions, but I have no answers.
  22. That deadly mushroom is the kind that you most often see in childrens’ books where the little fairy is hiding under it to avoid the rain…..maybe the little fairy better watch out from now on and wait under a non-poisonous mushroom????????????????
    Hugs, Teddy
