Oh, sort of like road kill…more like road droppings cause they fell off thhe tree(s)!
Are you going to roast them? Petcretary says she has never had those.
Oh boy! Chestnuts roasting by the open fire – Jack Frost nipping at your nose…..oh wait – that’s a Christmas song – it’s not Christmas yet is it? Well enjoy your chestnuts however you choose to eat them and don’t break a tooth!!
Hugs, Teddy
I love roasted chestnuts! When I was young I used to eat them raw, but one day I looked at the part I hadn’t eaten and there was half a worm in it! I made sure they were always well cooked after that.
They look delicious…without the wurmz😸Double Pawkisses from us to you🐾😽💞
Mackie loves to snitch the open ones and have a snack on his walkies. They are yummy when they’re roasted!

Oh my word – nature’s larder pays dividends!!! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
We have never seen chestnuts but the thought of worms in them makes us wonder if we are not happy we don’t have them around here.
woo hoo for street food. I have never had one, just the kind that comes in cans. I do love nuts. but now there are only 2 nuts i can eat and they have to be crushed to mush. free food is always good
You found a great haul of chestnuts. We’ve never tried them so let us know how they taste.
Yay! Chestnuts. They look amazing. Sorry the worms are missing, but oh well. They’ll be delicious on their own.
Love and licks,
Cupcake
Oh boyz will you roast them over an open fire? I’ve never had a chestnut.
Street food BOL
Hugs cecilia
what a find!!! I love roasted chestnuts and haven’t had them since we moved West
Lulu: “Time to roast them on an open fire? Just make sure to cut a notch in them first, which our Dada forgot to do that one time!”
Sadly we are too far north to find sweet chestnuts on the street in Aberdeen, so will have to make do with enjoying yours through the screen.
Toodle-oo!
Nobby.
they actually look more like Buckeyes!!! I just googled it to see if they were the same and here is what it said: “Buckeyes and chestnuts are not the same, though they do look alike. Buckeyes and American chestnuts are native to the United States, but other chestnuts, including the horse chestnut, are imported. All three trees are impressive with their stature, large leaves, clusters of white or yellow flowers and odd fruit.” Yours look exactly like Buckeyes!! Chestnuts bring back fond memories, my Dad used to roast them for us as kids. I never loved them, but I loved my Dad so much I would still eat them. They grew on me and I actually do like them. I remember some of them having worms though!
What a haul!! That sure look delish, and we may have to see if our Mama can roast some for us this year!!
xoxo,
Sunny and Rosy(and Jakey too)
When #1 was in Paris today, she saw a lot of chestnut sellers in the streets!
