to a new epawsode of Angel Sammys and Teddys Pawetaton in pigtures….look what they found for this week…

that rocks….right?

Many moons ago there were two chicks,

dreamed about singing in a band with many gigs.

Fortuna was with them, cause the dad of one chick was

a muzak guy who played the  sax & the  bass.

They pestered this dad, killed nerves and bone

till he agreed to gave them an audition.

the song was picked, house of the rising sun,

the dad grabbed his guitar and the mischief began.

the chicks gave all from growling to squeaks,

and suddenly tears ran down of the guitar guys cheeks.

chick one asked, are you touched, was da song too tough?

no, said her dad I’ve just tried not to laugh.

and the sentence came, it was short and brutal:

forget it girls, no stage material.

but to your comfort, that’s no beginners  song.

bah! said chick two, you just played it wrong.

that bad singers were some kind of underdogs, right?

eggs-actly my friend… indeed…like you…

  2. Don’t feel bad, NOBODY has ever sung that song in a way that doesn’t make my ears bleed…

  3. It’s a tough song to sing so I think anyone who even TRIES deserves some kind of award!!! Well done poem – we love it.

    Hugs, Teddy and Mom

BOL – OMdoG – believe it or not, I once did an ‘audition’ with exactly that song!!! Different outcome, but let’s gloss over that for now… I love how so many of these prompts can bring back memories from a chick’s youth… hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  8. Memories of Eric and Flynn says:

I agree, that song is for Eric Burdon. It used to be a favourite of mine and when my friend and I caught the small ferry to the local beach we used to play it over and over on the juke box.

  9. I had a similar experience only we were practicing for a real audition with a local band. My friend’s husband recorded it. It was so bad even we knew we didn’t have a chance and canceled the audition! That was my career as a rock star. I don’t remember the song we picked. Probably something totally nuts like Led Zeppelin or Janis Joplin.

  10. BOL BOL BOL In my head I can sing…but when I open my mouth I can’t carry a tune in a bucket. LOL I loved this story
    Hugs Cecilia

  11. GAH! Underdogs. I see what you did there….

    Love and licks,

  12. That is a cute poem, telling the story of a lot of others likely have experienced in some way or other.

Years ago, I tried to show off my beginning talent(!?!) on my violin by scraping and squeaking through Twinkle Little Star to my uncle…he just stood there and endured it…with a bland face…and a good for you when I finished! BOL!
