and welcome to a new epawsode of our funny cooking contest… and together with da CANADIAN CATS, we present you today:

today we have a classics for you what was invented in germany in da 50’s by da tv-chefs Clemens Wilmenrod & Hans Karl Adam.

you need: toast bread, pineapples in slices (canned), boiled ham or another sausage in slices, cheese and ketchup

…let’s check if we have efurrything….

…joooo that looks good…

place da toast slices on a baking try and use baking paper to avoid a mess… on da toast slices place a slice of bacon and a slice of pineapple…

… and now comes da trick….. put your ketchup or BBQ sauce if you like it more, directly in the hole of the pineapple slice… that’s VERY important to make a real  toast hawaii….

… then you place a slice of cheese on efurry toast and you put it in the oven under your grill on full steam  for some minutes…

…if da cheese is golden brown or charcoal black like ours,  it is ready and you can dig in! The pineapple reminded us a little of a sun while preparing our toasts and to feel a little sunny inside after you ate one, is not that bad right? It is perfect for a sh*t day or if you want to spoil yourself a little… and it’s easily done too ;O)

and with our toast hawaii we will send some sun to the mama of the canadian cats  and we hope she will feel better soon…

No, no, no, no — no ketchup, no bbq-sauce! Heretic! Where is the Spanish Inquisition when you need it? You leave both out, just place the cheese on top and in the round in the middle you place a cocktail cherry!

Yeah, I hate that too. But if you have to have something in your pineapple slice, use something fruity, some mango chutney or some cranberries or something like that .. No, no, not ketchup, tomatoes are fruit – but not eligible here! I would tolerate a salsa – at most!

  2. Looks so tasty and easy to make. Jooo is almost Finnish, joo is used as a word yes. Kyllä is the right word for yes, but we use joo.
    Have a great day!

  3. Ooh, that is so wonderfully retro! Bet is tastes gorgeous 😀

  4. We’ve never had anything like this before and it looks so yummy! We need to give this a try!

  5. Gee that Hawaiian toast looks tasty! I may have to get my Mom to give that a try then hope she will SHARE!!

    Hugs, Teddy

And though I at first did not want to, I wrote one, too. Something sweet, something quick, and easy .. so it ticks all the boxes of comfort food. Must make tonight …

We’ve seen toast Hawaii before but don’t eat it here. Mom is very picky and she loves pineapple but it can’t be with other foods. Mom and I are both very weird about what we eat. It sure does look good, though.

  8. It looks very good! I love melted cheese and I don’t mind if it gets a little burned. I have the things I need to make this. We toast bread and put albacore tuna on it with a slice of cheese and put it in the oven. It is quick and tasty. Now we will add this to our quick and tasty meals.

  9. Yummy Twinies. each and every ingredient is a favorite here.
Inquiring minds, (mine) want to know what is written on the rug in your last photo.
    Hugs Cecilia

  10. A hole adventure. Of course, sauce or chutney- why didn’t I think of that. Makes a quick meal anytime, too. 8 Paws up!

  11. This all sounds good except for the catsup part. When in France years ago with my French boyfriend, his relatives made me a special “American” dish of spaghetti with ketchup on it. I managed to not gag, and to smile and thank them while I ate it. (I come from an area in PA filled with Italians and great Italian food!)

  12. That sounds delish and super easy to make. We’ll have to see if we can get our mom to make some.

…..oh I have a similar thing – spread the toast with a mix of tomato puree, soy sauce and herbs, then fresh tomato slices then cheese – “pizzettes”!!! Yummmmm… now I want to go make some!!! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  14. Charles Huss says:

That really looks delicious, except for maybe the burnt part. 🙂

  15. Memories of Eric and Flynn says:

It sounds tasty, but definitely no ketchup or BBQ sauce for me.

  20. Hawaiian Toast! I’ve not had that since I was in Art school! One of my friends was from Germany and he made it all the time! I always thought the best thing was the maraschino cherry in the middle of the pineapple! I think I shall make some

  21. Marsha Gay says:

That looks great. Have you tried it on Hawaiian bread?

  22. […] are joining up with The Weimie Cook-Twins and The Canadian Cats, who can cook […]

  23. Hmmm, Ketchup and BBQ sauce are not on my list…never have been a fan…so maybe I would add something else tangy, that would go with the bacon/pineapple. Maybe Pizza sauce?
You made a lot for two peeps and two pups…do they keep well for leftovers? Or did you have company to assist with gobbling them all up??! BOL!

We add our pawyers and POTP for Miss Jean to feel a lot better. Get well, soon!

  24. Sadly I spaced this month’s episode out before I left town but sent warm snail mail get-better wishes directly to Jean. We hope she feels our loving thoughts of energy soon and begins to feel better..

  25. Jan K says:

That would cheer us up for sure!!

  26. Charlee: “Happy belated birthday over the Rainbow Bridge, Easy!”
