BON CHEW & COWCOW,

all aboard of da black maria? …let’s go…

…. furst da roads were empty and you  could  enjoy the nature and da good weather…

…butt then came paris… and this was da pure hell!

…. we had sluggish traffic there and then da sh… hit da fan..

…they closed the ramps without a reason and without sending this informations, so the gps was clueless and we drove around and around…

… and the mama cursed at the idiotic vespa drivers who try to find every gap between da cars…

….. but da french resting areas were absolutely perfect, they are clean … a thing you can definitely NOT say about german resting places, because they are a mess and scandalous…

…and to have dog walking areas with shady trees is a good idea for summer…. but therefore the highway is expensive in france and we really wonder why they have no solution for their toll stations this time… everybuddy has its fingers on the buttons, no desinfection nor anything to avoid contamination… but prices as high as da eiffel tower thing… butt anyway…

… over bridges …

…and through long tunnels da black maria rolled  eastwards  and after 16 hours we really made it to da forest crib of da grand parents….the stay there was  for a sad reason, for the funeral of a cousin what was postboned again because of this darned virus. And as if that is not bad enough  the uncle of the mama died  and even when we were heartbroken, we now think there is something like Karma (the toad of Kismet’s place?) what gave us the chance to see him alive before he left us….

…and between the sad things  we enjoyed a good  time there,

…even when…

…da temperatures climbed to nearly 40 °c…

… butt our clever daddy had the AC on full power and we had a rolling fridge…  specially as we drove back…

…and even when we liked our days with the grand parents it was a good feeling as we crossed the borders and were back in france…

… and the best was to be back at home… da staff has a cold from the AC and we decided to let them stay inside for some days… this is not the time for coughing and sneezing, at the end the inmates of our kraal will think we are infested and they visit us at night with muck forks and torches…

…oh and btw. guess what? da phenny puked in da car as we drove through paris… he had lamb provencale for breakfast  and the car smelled like a kebab hut… the mama dried to remove the recycled food with wet tissues but they had a lily of da valley scent so that mix was the weirdest perfume ever…

…thanks for sharing that news you ole babblemouth… tonight I will puke on your head….

HAVE A TROUBLEFREE TUESDAY ALL

  1. Sorry to hear of the sad reason for your visit. At least the roads are mostly easier at the moment.

  2. Awww, sadness indeed, and some love from us to help with comforts.\

What a crazy wild trip. Good thing there was refuge at the journey’s end,and then again to be back home is fabulous!

No more woofing the cookies, OK??!

(Years ago when the first van we had was new, we went to visit family, an about 8 hours trip, and just before we got there, the younger son up-chucked all over the new seats…and himself too of course…and his changes of clothes were at the very back of the trunk…yup…and when we got to auntie’s house he baptized the kitchen floor there…Euuwww! Poor 7 year old had pneumonia…we didn’t realize at all…)

    • oh how sad…. such journeys are maybe the reason for songs like road to hell…

      • No kidding…like when we were in the middle of nowhere in the mountains of New York State, and the older son at about three months of age (What possessed the pawrents to go on a 1500 round trip journey with an infant anyways??)…well he had what we call a blow-out…(TMI!), and there was nowhere to clean him up, except an old diner…um…we perfumed and fumigated it free of charge for them. LOL!

  3. Memories of Eric and Flynn says:

I am sorry the trip was for a sad reason, but it was a blessing that the mama could see her uncle before he died.
The virus is disrupting life in so many ways, but at least you all were able to make the trip.

  4. Hari OM
I too add thoughts for the passed… but it is true that to have made the trip was a good thing. In spite of the trials and tribulations! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  5. So sorry for the sad news in your family. But you had an interesting trip and thanks for telling us all about it. Right now, we are again confined to 5 miles of our house in Aberdeen – armchair travelling is all we’ll be doing this summer it seems…
    Toodle pip!
    Bertie.

  6. Sorry for the losses in the family…..I’m glad your Mama got to see her Uncle. As for the trip itself – sounds like the Black Maria was a moving refrigerator full of recycled food and sneezing humans. I’m SURE you’re happy to be back home again – now you can REST from your vacation!

    Hugs, Teddy and Mom too

  7. Sandra Hangey says:

OH MY WORD! this trip sure had some of all The Good The Bad and The Ugly… you did make if funny and I love that. of course you were writing after it was over, which helps. if i had to pick the worst of all that happened and also the funniest, because I laughed out loud, it is the puke in the car.. been there several times. and once we picked up Baby and Cooper from a kennel we left them in, and they said they had been out for the morning, we got 1 mile from the kennel with another 20 minutes to home and Baby pooped on the floor of the back seat, it was HORRID….
So sorry for your loss of cousin and uncle and I agree with you it was a good thing you could visit him before he left the world.
about Paris traffic, today we go back for bob’s visit to eye doc and have 40 to 45 minutes of that kind of traffic. of course after 6 times of driving it i know what to do so not as bad..
that heat on your thermometer is even hotter that we are. YOWSA! glad you are home safe and hope your heat cools down soon…

  8. So sorry about the mama’s uncle. It was good to have made the trip and have some time with the grandparents. I am glad you are safe and at home. We don’t like much being on the busy highways anymore.

  9. My GBGV Life says:

Sorry to hear about the cousin and the uncle. We were afraid it was going to be one of your grandparents. Always cherish every day as one never knows if there will be a tomorrow, right. Mom doesn’t like Paris, so she found your bad traffic troubles there amusing. Enjoy being back home.

  10. We are so sorry about the cousin and about your mama’s uncle. Even though the trip was not the easiest, at least you got to see the family and the uncle one last time.

  11. Sandra Hangey says:

Big is sick! Can barely walk and get up and down. Did not eat his egg for breakfast. We have 10:00 appointment in Sarasota for Bob’s eyes I left a message on the vet’s office that we would like to bring him in as soon as possible after that appointment. Prayer visit will be a quick one because we will be fretting over him the whole time we’re gone

  12. We are sorry your trip was for such a sad reason. And that the Paris driving was worse than usual. And that Phenny’s tummy got sick. Sometimes it’s good to just be home. XOXO Lucy and Xena

  13. Bless your 4 hearts…travel in any mode is just not ideal now a days.
I’m glad you had such a good time at the Grandpeeps once you arrived.
We once experienced Paris traffic in the airport….horrid we almost missed out connection and the Vespa’s scared the living daylights out of us in Rome. So I feel your frustration. Hope the humans are on the mend
    Hugs Cecilia

  14. Sorry for your losses but the trip had it’s ups and downs. It’s always good to come home. So much has to be peed on.

  15. Zoolatry says:

Oh dear, a twisted travel tale … left, right, up, down, in, out, good, bad, happy, sad.

  16. Brian says:

That was a lot of sad and add in the way sick tummy and bad traffic…yikes!

  17. We are sorry for the sadness of your losses, boys. but as always, everything in your world becomes an adventure. Glad you made it home safe and sound, even if the car smells a little funky for the next few days or so…

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  18. lapaylor says:

sure it’s just a cold??? Hope so…. I enjoyed your pictures and travel commentary though

  19. Glad we weren’t there! This was a rea adventure type of outing. I could do without most of it but you’ve had the outing for the year….no visit could be this taxing….not again this year.

    Jean

  20. Wow, what an adventure! Wide open roads are great, but then you always see to hit traffic, don’t you. Sorry for Phenny for being sick in the car. And sorry to the others for having to smell it!

  21. Kismet says:

So that’s where Karma went. We haven’t seen Karma all summer. France isn’t where an amphibian like Karma should hang out.

  22. Yikes! Sorry about the loss of the uncle and the fragrant Black Maria. Glad you made it home safely. Time to catch up on rest and remove the sniffles. Take good care while you rejuvenate and feel better.

  23. Driving around Paris is almost always a nightmare!

We are sorry that there was much sadness around your visit, but we are glad you are back home safely.

    Woofs,
    Ollie

  24. The Gang at LLB says:

Yikes, that was not the best of trips, was it? So sorry about the family losses, and the traffic, and the crappy resting areas. But at least you had a nice scenic ride for part of it. Home is always a great place to be. We hope the peeps will be better soon. Take care.

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  28. Benji says:

So sorry about the sadness of your trip. Glad you are back at home in one piece. That was an awfully long drive. You could almost have driven from the east to the west of the US in that time. B.

  29. We are glad you two were there to provide distraction during such a sad time. A warm puppy with soft eyes is comforting…better without the lingering queasy tummy issue smells.
We hate those dogging and darting traffic bumblers, too. Maybe there was eno09ugh pretty scenery to gloss over the traffic…which irritates everyone

  30. Marsha Gay says:

A long trip for a sad event is never fun. At least the puke livened things up

  31. grannyK says:

    So sorry for your loss

  32. Jan K says:

Well, that certainly was an interesting trip….but we are glad you are back home safe if not a bit worse for wear (humans anyway.
