we thought it is time for a new DIY project… so grab your helmets and the toolbox  and let’s go…

… it started with a bench what didn’t survive the meet&greet with a grandmotherly ice cream cemetery…

…and because we had nothing to do than to bake in da sun, we accidentally let the granny and the mama lose…

…as they came back they had a big box in tow… yo, it starts always with a box…

…the box said made in vietnam and that sounds promising if you ask me… meanwhile efurrybuddy can do made in china butt made in vietnam is a class of its own…

…this time our dad nearly threw the towel in and the bench out…

…and even with our  help he couldn’t fix that beast…

…the phrase for gratefulness is NOT F…U… how much have I told ya that?

…you had to throw nuts in small holes and then you had to fish with screws for the nuts to connect that stuff…da dad needed 87 hours then he went nuts… and he glued the nuts into the little holes…sadly the wrong way round..

… after he finished his oeuvre the mama found a stick you have to attach to hold da nuts in da middle till the screws are in…

…her smart advice came butt to late and he thanked her with the same phrase he used for me…

… ouch that bench give you a totally behind da bars feeling… just saying…

…butt after  half of an eternity we could place  the pillows on that new bench

… and da Nelly tramped it down with his giant fire swatter paws..

… we think it looks not bad, even when my dad ended screwed…

You two are sooo helpful and I am glad your human female joined in into the fun and tried to help, too 😉

  2. Oh that is a beautiful seat. Well done the Dad.
But where are the humans going to sit???

  3. weggieboy says:

Yes, the screws got what they had coming, and the end result may just be a better solution than intended! I swore years ago I’d never buy any=other thing I had to assemble after putting together many with crappy outcomes and half-a solutions to misaligned holes built that way. Ugh! Ikea – another world for Hell!

  4. Nice seat! The Cushion is a bit small, not space for two!Enjoy!

  5. I think your Dad did a mighty fine job putting the new bench together. It looks sturdy but only time will tell – how many ice cream cemeteries does it take to break a Vietnamese bench????? Maybe you should start a lottery?????

    Hugs, Teddy

  6. Princess Leah says:

Oh that looks a pawfect comfy bench fur you fellas to enjoy garden time….errr, butt where are the peeps gonna sit?
    Loves and licky kisses

  7. Looks good — is it still standing? 😉

  8. Emmadog says:

Looks like a very nice bench. Has anyone tried to sit on it yet?

  9. That first photo made me laugh! When I was a pup, I played with a fly swat for a long time!

    Nice bench, guys!

  10. Brian Frum says:

Well it looks darn nice and I’m sure you two were most helpful!

What’s this… the Vietnamese version of stuff from the Big Blue and Yellow IKKY SHOPPE??? No wonder there was cussing and kerplunking!!! Howeffurs – that does look to be a suitable replacement for the deceased original. Happy sitting!!! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  12. That’s a very nice bench and even more comfy with the cushions!

  13. Piglove says:

I applaud your dad brothers. He is talented beyond belief. My mom would have had extra parts after ‘attempting’ to put together that bench. Snorts and rolls with piggy laughter. Happy monday! XOXO – Bacon

  14. HAHA – We have that old bench on the porch and have replaced the slats with teak already once. Now it holds packages and deliveries, but warnings to anything/anyone else.
Since your dad is already trained on the battering together process of a new one, maybe he could stop by and do a demo for here?
A lovely pup perch all done there!

  15. Yeah. I’m thinking it’s a pretty nice bench and no injuries. No blood is a good thing. A few F bombs are allowed during home projects and other times, too… right???????

  16. Kismet says:

Nellie hasn’t figured out yet that being the first to use a DIY project there is like being a test pilot flying the maiden voyage of a plane designed and built as a school project.

  17. Madi and Mom says:

OMCs a DIY project without any blood shed…now that is a success!!
Obviously made in Vietnam is safer than made in China.
    Hugs madi your bfff

  18. Madi and Mom says:

PS we like the style of the new bench too and it looks comfy

  19. Lee says:

Lee would have sanded the old iron bench pained the crisscross two colors and the rest one color went and got new wood boards for the seat slid them in from the back and voila a new DIY French bench not a Vietnam bench. That bench will be kindling splitters if it has a run in friends.

Phen your parents are always making the coolest things, hell our parents cannot even work together for five minutes without sending death glares each others way. Our mom wants you to send her that old bench so she can put it in her flower garden….just saying. We would be sleeping on that new comfy one. mags and gusser

  21. Not bad at all, a nice bench to stand on. Oh cats and dogs, you have hot there. Same here, almost every day 30 C since the beginning of May. Have you had any rain?

  22. Memories of Eric and Flynn says:

The bench looks very nice, and I am sure gluing the nuts in the wrong way would make it stronger. Usually there are lots of bits left over at the end.

  23. We’re glad to see your dad was successful in the end and didn’t seem to spill any blood on this project. BOL!

  24. saymber says:

I need your Dad to come to our house and do some DIY benching. Ours is about through lol. You have a pretty awesome Dad even with the occasional or often F-U’s in the mix!

  25. Your stories make me glad we do not do DIY projects. Glad to see you two pups getting along so well together.

  26. Cupcake says:

In spite of the wily screws, the stick to tame them, and the glue for desperate measures, that Vietnam bench looks pretty darn good. Also, no ambulance or bandages in sight! I call this one a success.

    Love and licks,

  27. The OP Pack says:

Well, all’s well that ends well, and it looks like that bench came out just fine in the end:) Too bad the required tool came so late in the process, but kudos to your Dad for a job well done.

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  28. Whew…we were afraid you boyz might have fallen through that bench. Looks like your Dad did a good job!
    Rosy, Arty & Jakey

  29. Ruby says:

Glad you set your dad straight about the term for gratefulness. BAHWAAHAHAHAHA

  30. That is a mighty fine looking bench and comfy too!

  31. M. K. Clinton says:

It is a really nice bench and I know you two were a tremendous help. We love sitting on our patio on our bench.

  32. Jan K says:

We are just impressed that the Dad will take on any project that is put in front of him! We’d say “without complaining” but we know better than that….. 🙂

  33. Yes! A new bench! Now with that cushion, no one will notice that the screws went in all screwy-like, BOL! Hope it holds up to you two rascals jumping on and off of it! And if your Dad or Mama is there at the same time..well, that *will* be the test!

  34. Astro says:

    Nice bench Phenny!
Did you know they make the bench’s holes not fit the nuts and bolts
on purpose. That’s what my dad said to tell you.
We want to know is your mom going to paint it?
    XO Astro & Mitzie

  35. You Dad is just like our Dad. He gets the job done, just not in exactly the right way or by the directions. With two of you to help now it must be a lot easier.

  36. We like the bench. Could your dad come over here and make up one fur us too? Just askin’

    Shoko and Tyebe

  37. My mommy can do any DIY projects herself because she reads the instructions first. Why is it that the males of our species do not know how to read the directions? The only things she won’t do are thing that require special tools she doesn’t have or is not familiar with. Such as tile cutters. But I guess it might be because the directions are not written very clearly..?

  38. lapaylor says:

wonder if daddy appreciates having twice the snoopervisors. Most guys having trouble with screws don’t want witnesses! The bench looks terrific but not big enough for two weim butts.

  39. Deziz World says:

But hey boys, at least nopawdy got hurt. 🙂 The bench looks nice. Not sure we’d wanna sit on it fur long, but it might make a great scratcher. MOL Big hugs

    Luv ya’

    Dezi and Raena

  40. Bwahahaha! That was quite the DIY project. But it will be a lovely garden bench from which to watch the Twins’ jaunty adventures in the garden.

  41. Marv says:

Hee! Hee! I bet you guys were the best help….just like me and Ninja!

  42. Marv says:

Do you want to know why there was no post on my blog today? No Tabby Tuesday…Me and Ninja have decided we are best buddies and he and me did what you – Phennie and Nellie did! We dragged all of his toys and all of my toes into the living room and a couple of blankets too! And our Dragon huffed and puffed and ranted and spent all her after work time putting our rearrangement back where it belonged…

  43. The bench is great, enjoy it!!

  44. Anarette says:

That’s a fine bench guys. Hope you get to watch lots of live TV on that thing. Benji and Ms. Zulu.
