BON CHEW&COWCOW
to a new round of FFF by Aunty Yam.
This time I have another classics… it’s FRIED GREEN TOMATOES by Fannie Flagg…
and the prompts are: BIG GEORGE, BBQ, ELDERLY and WHISTLE STOP
One day without rain, we planned to have a BBQ… butt for such a thing you need the right equipment…. and like always the adventure started with a big box. During an insane moment the mama bought a new BBQ grill for my dad and that was the start of something special….
…..there was NO instruction inside, because the makers of that grill thought that efurrybuddy, even a monkey or a dad is able to put 5 simple parts together…
…but they were wrong….and I had to help out with sharing some parts of my endless weim-wisdom….
… and with my help my dad connected all parts apart from some screws and a thingy what will not belong to a BBQ grill… like he said…
… because my dad is slightly ELDERLY , I had to tell him where he has to place da charcoal…
…and then he sang come on baby lite my fire and…
…nothing happened….
…. but after 2 hours there actually came some sparks…
…and after another 2 hours it was fire like… sort of…
… the mama drowned Loup de mer in sauce a’ la BIG GEORGE and she also had fish and chicken breasts for the beloved one…. that’s me… just saying…
… and while the staff was outside I set the table…
…and I also polished the plates with my tongue … you can not trust that dishwashers, right?
…87 hours later my dad actually completed that mission to grill something with a ton of non burning charcoal… the trend goes to slow cooking we prefer slow grilling…
…and here it is…. chicken breast and Loup de mer for the Weimaraner YAY!
…it’s not lunch butt dinner, butt I like it…
…and also the staff tried to eat something…. butt the one who did the authopsy of that fish was an idiot or a serial killer… the filets were full with spiky fish bones and because the staff are no Fakirs from the inside, they had to throw the towel in and the fish in da trashcan…. BBQ with salad and bread… what a fail…
…butt at least the weimaraner was satisfied….
…finally I can say we liked it very much to try the recipes from the book… and it was a little bit like being in WHISTLE STOP too…. I think it was not the story of Idgie and Ruth, nor the story of Evelyn or the Threadgoodes what fascinated the mama as she read the book and watched the movie. It was the place what caught her immediately…. Sadly such places are rare in our modern times, but they still exist in our memory as the places where life was always good and we often wish us back to such a place when life gets rough…. may you all have such a place in your heart and in your memory what gives you pawtection and shelter… furever&ever…
HAVE A FABULOUS FURRYDAY ALL

Aww Phenny. The place in your memory where life was always good. Something to treasure indeed.
We all need a place in our memory where we can “go” to experience the GOOD stuff, especially when things aren’t so good in the “now”. Speaking of not so good – I’d say that non-burning charcoal your Dad used was definitely not good and the same could be said for the fish with a million bones! Oh well – he tried….and you were happy – that’s all that matters right????
Hugs, Teddy
My mom needs to have directions to put stuffs together too and yes, she is elderly too! What a bummer about the fish with too many bones but the chicken looks delicious!
Seeing the grill makes us hungry. You need a gas grill, they make it so much easier! Better luck next time on the food.

Bravo fur this FFF entry – and the thoghts of happy places! Hug and wags YAM-aunty xxx
Awww, so true what the mama thinks about going back with our memories to the places that makes our heart happy. I go to those places often, not only when life gets rocky but also when I am happy. So thankful for memories that make us feel secure.
Too bad about the fish… that grill looks pretty nice, hope it works better next time IF it gets a next time!
What a great story. At least nobody got hurt putting the grill together or doing the grilling.
Fried Green Tomatoes a true Southern classic. Well done on the story and OMCs every buddy got chicken.
One of Dad’s favorite sandwiches at Village Deli is their toasted Fried Green tomato and pimento cheese sandwich.

That is a wonderful movie, a real classic. Too bad about the BBQ fish. At least you got dinner, Phenny!
aaaieeee I hate fish bones!
It’s better than Miss Dingleberry can do.
We love it when Mom gets the BBQ fired up. We usually get her to put a burger or some chicken on there for us too. Mom says no fish with bones for her, please:)

We are going to buy a grill and hope to have some yummy things grilling soon! Have you ever eaten fried green tomatoes? They are incredible!!
Ohhh I hate fish with bones, I won’t eat either! BBQ looks great!!
What a sweet thought and wish, and wonderful advice to have a place we can always go in our minds when reality gets rough. ♥
Well, at least nopawdy caught the house on fire. Mommy almost did the only time she tried to grill. She used somethin’ called kerosene to make the fire grow from the coals. MOL Big hugs
Luv ya’

Some assembly required always strikes terror in our house. Between faulty instructions and underestimated assembly time (who whips a garden shed together in 3 hours?), my engineer husband curses for days. Food looked yummy!
Fried green tomatoes-movie in among the best movies in the whole world. You mom said the message of this movie very truly and beautifully.
That fish looked like it might have been tasty..alas for all them dumb bones, not even suited for a weim pair…
