a jar of creme fraiche  eu 0.99$$ 1.04, a short pastry eu 0.89/0.94$$, a bag of custard powder vanilla from our stash, some brown sugar and canned fruits, we used peaches eu 1.29/1.36$$ butt you can take  whatever you want, but be careful when you use plums, or the tart becomes a fart…

img_3304

… pre-heat your oven and throw the pastry in a tart mold and punch some holes in the dough with a fork…

img_3305

…mix the creme fraiche with the custard powder&some sugar  and throw it on the pastry…

img_3306

…cut the peaches in slices and place it on the creme fraiche mix… add some brown sugar and throw it in your oven…

img_3309

…you can clean the counter with your tongue while waiting…

img_3307

…or you can sit on your daddy’s lap…

img_3314

…viola! ready…

img_3318

…and I bow my head in front of myself for being such a fantabulous chef…

img_3317

…ummmm… I think you furgot one thing….

img_3320

….sooooooo now the post is complete… nearly…

This cake is a part of the crazy teenager time of the mama…. with her 3 friends Manu, Heike&Betty they often made a cake when they came together to do their homework as a team… a bottle of the cheapest sparkling Asti Spumante joined  the girls and their brainstorming and the results looked like messages from the bottle in many ways… at the end not only the cake was baked… Butt they had a great time, while Manu&Heike did the math, the mama did  all other stuff and Betty sang ABBA songs with her own lyrics, because her talent was to have a good voice…

Oh glorious teenage time with sweaters around the shoulders and pennies in da shoes… where are ya? Gone with the wind or drowned in da 1.99 bottle with Asti-swill? Gimme a sign please when you see it… will ya?

HAPPY SHOPPING !

Yummy 😋Phenny. You and the mama did good. I’m glad those peaches 🍑 found a recipe.
    I’ve got a recipe too. . .

  2. Our mummy has fond memories of Asti Spumante from her wild and younger days. Now for some reason she will not touch it and preferes a glass on New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. As we live in NewZealand it is wine that is easy to find.

  3. That’s our kind of tart!

Mmmh – and the best thing is, if you can, you can replace the shop-bought dough with dough of your own making

not THAT difficult to get together
these days I would even be tempted to replace the custard powder like I had to for my own recipe
    semolina porridge with rhubarb compote
you bind the compote with a little bit of custard powder – or with some potatoe-starch and a little bit of vanilla-concentrate.

Lately I seem to turn into a purist and make custard powder, ketchup and mayonnaise myself. I still buy ready made stock, though and use soup powder *ahem* – so much for being a purist.
But this tarte sounds awesome and I am very much tempted to do one …

  5. Ah yes! The Asti Days!! We have ALL had them!! I remember those baked kind of nights…hahaha! Your recipe looks really good, we will have to give it a try! Happy Weekend to you guys!

  6. Now that’s one SWEET dessert! Looks like something even my asti-spumante drinking Mom could handle too! Nice of you to clean the counter after your Mom threw that tart together and while it was cooking – you saved her some time. Penny loafers and sweaters days were FUN my Mom says….although it was a VERY VERY long time ago.

    Hugs, Angel Sammy and Teddy

    • yes… many moons ago. Once they had an oldie-special in tv… they played songs from a time the mama was young…. think that’s a hint with a sledgehammer that you became old hahahah

  7. Hari OM
Cheaterie patisserie? I’s gonna try that one!!! I was never an Asti gal. Cider maybe… Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  8. Emmadog says:

Looks good! Thanks for not making Pflaumenkuchen. Mom had so much of that tart when she lived in Germany, she can’t stand to see them! Enjoy this extra day of March, the 31st!

  9. That looks super yummy! I think I would use pears. Mmmm.
I remember drinking Asti Spumante when I was a teen. I didn’t like beer, but this stuff is just like sweet beer. I miss leg warmers from the 80’s.. they really kept you warm!

  10. You can’t go wrong with a tart… or creme fraiche! It looks delicious! Your memories of Asti Spumante take me back to memories with Boone’s Farm Strawberry Hill wine… those were the days. I don’t know how we ever drank the Boone’s Farm! And yes! Pennies in the Bass Weejun loafers!

  11. That looks super yummy. I am glad we are not the only ones who are not bakers.

  12. That looks like an easy peasy but delicious tart!! It was nice of you to help your Mama clean up!!

Oh yum, yum and as you say Phenny, no cooking is complete until YOU have done the ‘taste test!’
My Mum is smiling as the Asti reference *sigh* she says she remembers those days well!
    Loves and licky kisses

  14. Goose says:

I think that looks delicious!!! And my momma says that anything can taste like 4 stars if you yourself are half baked. Hahhahhaha.

  15. Brian says:

I always get hungry when you are doing the cooking Phenny!

  16. Piglove says:

OMP brother. What a fabulous story and lovely tart. We love peaches here in Georgia. We must try this recipe – it looks fantastic!! XOXO – Bacon
P.S. Thanks for hosting Shopping Around the World this month. We really appreciate it!

  17. That looks tasty! I’m going to get Momma to try it.

  18. franhunne4u says:

How long do you let the tarte bake? And how much crème fraîche do you use? Because Germans get differently sized “jars” … ours are smaller 😦

  19. I remember Asti Spumante and Boone’s farm. Oddly, we never made food when we drank. I think we were afraid we’d burn our boobs!

  20. Kismet says:

You’d get a better result if you Spumanted before cooking.

  21. mmmmmm mom loves any dessert that has peaches in it and this looks wonderful!
    Good job Phenny
    hugs

  22. The OP Pack says:

  26. Sounds like your mama had some really fun times! Good thing you are around to help her. Did you sing Abba songs?

    Your Pals,

    Murphy & Stanley

  27. Jan K says:

Ah, the good old days! It is nice to carry on the traditions from those days whenever we can. I just threw together some cinnamon rolls yesterday, the same as my Mom always made. We may not have been singing, but there might have been some Abba music playing in the background…..

  28. carentaylor says:

Sounds like your mum had great yesteryear’s to reminisce over 😉 Fab and delicious looking peach tart!!

  29. Flynn says:

That sounds very tasty and my mum said she will try it. She remembers the days of Asti Spumante too but prefers shiraz and merlot now. My dad wouldn’t need plums to turn the tart into a fart. He does that to everything and I make sure I don’t sleep under the covers on his side of the bed.

  30. You are making Lady miss sugar and other good food that is not clean and healthy!

  31. That tart looks delish. You did a great job baking it. We love the picture of you in your dads lap.

  32. Frankie and Ernie says:

THAT looks …. ABBA SO LUTEly DELICIOUS and BEAUTIFUL.

  33. Oh boy does that look yummy. I hope you got a piece

  34. OMD..That looks so yummy! Think you can send me some? Or send your Mom over here so she can make it? 🙂

Thank you for the POTP for Holly. She is doing fine now. The surgery was a success and the evil “C” monster is no longer a threat! POTP is very powerful! 🙂

My Mama is drooling over those delicious peaches Phenny!! What a great recipe and funny memory!!

  39. Phenny, we want to try that! Looks like fun fur dogs and peeps too!
    Yur Furend
    Louis Dog Armstrong

  40. That looks awesome and how nice you sit on dads lap like a good boy waiting.

  41. MrJackFreckles/Pipo & Minko says:

Petcretary didn’t do the spumante drinking…not=r baking along with gals…but she does remember an evening with Newfoundland Screech, BOL! Once was more than enough…OMD! And that was in Nova Scotia, with a few gals from Ireland of all places…and um…petcretary was not even a teenager there…she was 22! Oops…living in residence with a bunch of bored nurses can be dangerous, tee-hee!

That tart looks scrumptious! Even I,MJF might give it a lick. My anorexia of the past week or so is still needing good tempting recipes to get me to eat anything…sigh…

  42. The Asti times are gone (thank goodness) but so are the hangovers which is a good thing about getting past teenage years. Luckily friendships last much longer. Beautiful pie!
