EASY TO COOK?… well duh! as if!
This time I present you something what we actually wouldn’t post. Butt I said we have to confess our…. or naah wait… HER! mistakes too, right? Butt anyway, this is eggs-perimental cooking and sometimes we have to break some eggs to become eggs-cellent…
The plan was to create a kind of swedish meatballs, just without meat. Butt with smoked salmon. Salmon goes well with pawtatoes, so we SHE! prepared a pawtato salat.
The ingredients:
smoked salmon shreds (we call this dechets de poison here … not worth to ask google, honestly…),1 egg, potatoes, honey, creme fraiche, mustard (german) and quark 0.3%fat (not because we are die-t junkies but for the nearly dry consistence) and to give that salmon some taste we used the magic salmon rub from Shoko&Kali from Catnada – MANY THANKS AGAIN!!!!!!
while the potatoes cooked my momma used the mustard, the creme fraiche and the honey together with some spices (pepper, salt, well ya know) to get a honey-mustard dressing for the potatoes
in another bowl she mixed the salmon shreds, the egg, the quark and the salmon rub together. If you use quark what’s totally without fat or anything it is like a kind of cement and you haven’t to use breadcrumbs or flour to get a mash ready to fry in a pan. …. Oh wait a minute the potatoes are ready and my odd-job girl can peel them… MoooooooM!
Viola, ready, we can mix it together and then it can rest and cool down…
butt lemme see what the dechets de poison do… yooooo… that’s ready for the pan and my odd-job girl can make some balls…
… and off they go in a pan… full speed ahead…
the thought that this non-meat balls need 87 minutes in the pan was a misdetermination…. 86.5 minutes is more than enough…now it is blackfish…
last check… well it looks sh*tty, butt that can’t be helped. This is a LIVE cook post and not such a fake tv-show were pro’s cook the same meal behind the stage to replace it in case the candidates cock it up instead to cook it up… just saying…
…ummmmm… well… that needs no words, right? … butt no worries he is still alive…
…ok, next part…we ponder now for a name for that epic fail… My momma said because it’s with salmon and pawtatoes and because she made non-meat balls with canadian spices , we can call that
Pippi Longbottom meets Tommy Chong
….. oh man…. nooo! that’s boring…
How about:
THE REASON WHY THE VIKINGS ARE DEAD
Bawhahahaha… YO! that sounds good…
… and now excuse me… I have some doubts that SHE! finds that funny… so I’m better outta here…
HAVE A GREAT DAY ALL
&
BURN A CANDLE AND NOT YOUR PAWS…
Your Chef
Hehe Easy…you best hope Mom doesn’t read this or you could be short of you dinner bowl this evening!
Loves and licky kisses
Princess Leah xxx
Looked like everything went well until the last 30 seconds. 🙂
well not everything can be pawfect.
Hey, a bit of carbon with your fishballs is good for you 😀
Doesn’t coal get used when you have some kind of food poissoning 😛
of course… great idea… and in this case we really need some coal lol
Yes, and it can help digestion 😉
They looked so hopeful frying in the pan… Mom loves burned food, so she would have been thrilled with the end result. Around here, when the smoke alarm goes off, she says, “Dinner’s ready…” You and your mom should collaborate on writing a cookbook, E. Your inventions are very…. Um….. Original.
Love and licks,
Cupcake
I know very little French. . However, ‘dechets de poison’ doesn’t sound like food to me!
I’m glad your test subject. .. er I mean Dad came out alive. He looked to be in a little duress in the photo. .. but maybe he was just being a good husband 😉
My mom is a huge fan of salmon patties. The very first meal mom prepared for dad after they were married was salmon patties. They were delicious EXCEPT mom made enough for the Vikings and all their friends. She bought a 16 oz can of salmon…it made about 20 patties….and you know leftover fish was not tasty and THIS was in 1970…there were no microwaves to warm it so she put them in the oven…which had a fishy smell for months. I sure wish I had been there in 1970 i love fishes
Hugs madi your bfff
you’re husband isn’t smiling…. I grew up having something called salmon cakes for dinner but they tasted awful. Your recipe sounds much better and who doesn’t love potato salad?
Hari om
Crikey, those are doing a bood impression of that famed Brit-dish called black pudding… only I bet these are actually more edible! Hugs and wags YAM-aunty xxx
What wine goes with that? May I suggest a quaint Panther Piss 2015.
oh that would be great the panther could eat the salmon and there is no trouble in their tummies :o)
My mom used to eat what she calls salmon patties all the time growing up. She never found out what her mom put in them though. Love Dolly
OMD, I can’t stop laughing. So glad other uprights have ‘adventures’ in the kitchen and glad everyone is still alive and eating but can’t believe ANYthing with quark failed-quark makes everything taste good. 😉
Oh dude – that is terrific. Your mom should have her own show for sure. Wouldn’t that be a hoot as you as her sous chef brother? XOXO – Bacon
That sounds like a really odd food. Hope you didn’t have to eat it. Let the cook enjoy it herself.
Hey Easy, those look like CH’s potato cakes!
THIS is hilarious. Thank you for making me laugh today. And, hey, nothing’s wrong with black salmon cakes. Yum. Easy, your photos are priceless!
Just scrape the burnt part off and add ketchup…that’s what we would do!! Nom Nom
Wyatt and Tegan
That’s a lot of work for such a sad conclusion….poor Mama. Personally, I blame the recipe……..
I’ve had my own share of epic fails in the kitchen over the years, Easy, so I feel for your Mom. Luckily, no one has ever taken pictures of mine. 😂
BOL! Well, you have to try stuff to see what works, right!
Well, you must say Easy, you never know what she is going to whip up!
ROFWM here Easy!! Yur eggs-cellent meel doess look a bit like a bunre offerin to BuudhaKat butt it doess look eat-abull….just cut thee burned part an throw to thee wind…..mew mew mew…

***Hi-5’sss*** Siddhartha Henry an ((hugs)) LadyMum
they do look a little well done 🙂
Maybe SHE! mixed up the instructions in the recipe. It might be not the pawtato that has to be peeled but the non-meat-all meatballs.
Now that was a priceless cooking post!!
Hilarious ! We think it’s one of the rare post where we don’t see you begging for food and licking the plate MOL ! We’re glad your dad is still alive. Purrs
Hahahahahaha! Way too funny Easy! For a while there it was looking good. I thought just maybe your Mom was going to fluke it.
Ever heard of blackened catfish? Well you got blackened salmon!!! We would have eaten it, we love fish.
Well Easy dat sounds a lot like salmon patties. Looks a lot like ’em too. And they not be burnt, dat;s what we call “cajun”. MOL You know, blackened and charred and done on purr-puss. MOL
Luv ya’
Dezi and Lexi
We are glad that your dad LIVES to Fix More thingys on other days…
OMD We hear that BLACKEND is THE way to have Catfish… butt we are not sure it is fur SAMMIN though…
We must say… it all reminds US of some of OUR mom’s Scientifical Kitchen Experiments… and all the times we have EATEN OUT…
That’s how our Mommy cooks. When its burnt – its done! In her old house, she used to have a piano in the room next to the kitchen. So, she would play the piano — and the meatballs would blacken.
Oh boy salmon balls sounds terrific
Lily & Edward
Sorry mom says no salmon is cooked in our house. she doesn’t like fishy smell. But we do get to eat salmon kibble sometimes
But she says she has had a few cooking experiments go awry too
hugs
Mr Bailey, hazel & mabel
We love it when you cook, and we love blackened things. My Mom used to make “salmon loaf” when I was a kid, and I am unable to look at salmon ever since.
BWHahahah…..as long as it kinda falls into the category of FOOD, it’s fine with me!
🙂
OMD your Dad’s expression says it all!!! I give your Mom extra points though for being so creative! My Mom and your Mom would have a blast in the kitchen ! Barks and licks and love, Dakota DakotasDen
We didn’t know Canadian spices didn’t work in France. That must be the problem.
All the ingredients looked good- so what if a little charred on the outside? Mom gets points for trying so hard 🙂
You better run, Easy!!!! I think the idea was GREAT! I bet it tasted good even if it didn’t look totally beautiful!
Now, I love salmon and potatoes so I really thought this was going to be a success! My assistant also has a habit of burning things at the last minute. Oh well
I bet you would have eaten them if given the chance Easy…
Well it started out delish. My husband will eat it because he didn’t cook it and it was warm!
When we heard salmon our furry little mouths were watering….um…now that we saw it…maybe not.
The Florida Furkids
Well none of our mom’s are perfect cooks. At least your dad didn’t croak from eating it.
Millie & Walter
You are lucky, our mom is a really, really, bad cook!
Keep Calm & Bark On!
Murphy & Stanley
Interesting recipe to be sure…..but the fact your Dad is still breathing is a GOOD thing and it apparently means your Mom was successful in her food experiment in the kitchen! Did you get to try those salmon burnburgers????????
Love, Sammy
I bet it was yummy. You use a lot of creme fraiche when you cook and I can honestly say that I never used it in a recipe. I guess because sour cream is much more readily available here.
sadly european companies are not able to make sour cream… that’s super sad so we have to switch to creme fraiche… we always super the super ultra light stuff, otherwise it would be fatty and greasy :o(
Your Dad doesn’t look as if he will be asking for seconds…Mom bought us som esalmon to add to our food. We hope that she doesn’t go eggs-perimenting with it!
Salmon cakes…been a long time since I’ve had one. I bet they tasted fine even if it was a little burned. 🙂
