Hello,

today 6 candles are on my table. They are the symbol for the 6 million jewish people who perished in the Holocaust and for the jewish resistance during that period.

El male rachamim, version for the Remembrance of Victims of the Holocaust

God, full of mercy, who dwells in the heights, provide a sure rest upon the Divine Presence’s wings, within the range of the holy and the pure, whose shining resemble the sky’s, all the souls of the six million Jews, victims of the European Holocaust, who were murdered, slaughtered, burnt and exterminated for the Sanctification of the Name, by the German Nazi assassins and their helpers from the rest of the peoples. Therefore, the Master of Mercy will protect them forever, from behind the hiding of his wings, and will tie their souls with the rope of life. The Everlasting is their heritage, the Garden of Eden shall be their resting room, and they shall rest peacefully upon their lying place, they will stand for their fate in the end of days, and let us say: Amen

  22. Kismet says:

Unfortunately, it was only the third worst government sanctioned mass killing of its own. The second was Stalin-see http://stalin.greyfalcon.us/. The conservative 30 million figure included many Jewish people. Although not Jewish, my Dad’s side of the family (all but my great-granddad) that remained in Europe were last seen on a one way train to Siberia. The worst perpetrator of an atrocity of the 20th century was Mao, although not many Jewish people died in that one. See http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/books/news/maos-great-leap-forward-killed-45-million-in-four-years-2081630.html

    • … and the massacre of Stalin was much more worse than Disney showed in “Fievel the Expat”, there are so many people who disappeared without a trace or who were killed including their families…

  23. Easy, what a great way to remember Yom HaShoah. These millions of souls must be remembered and the whole episode never, ever forgotten. I like your way of honouring the millions, Easy. Unfortunately, these charismatic leaders seem able to gather many peeps to believe in their tyrannical ideals….peeps all of a sudden go stupid. What a horrible waste!!

Thank you so much Easy & family for your tribute….my paternal Grandparents & my Cousins & my aunt were all killed in Concentration Camps. I never knew Aunty Lily nor my cousins or Grandmother Helene of Grandfather Johann.
Of my Father’s family only he & one nephew survived…..
My Father was haunted his entire life but he was a wonderful Father & provider & friend to me.
