… well this time the fox says: har, har, har… OUTFOXED!

Yesterday I was on our meadow in front of my crib. We can’t do longer walks because of my still inflamed dew claw, so my mom thought I could walk around a little on that meadow…because it’s fenced and when we close the gate I can do my noon-patrol…

I was as bad as always and tried to chase voles and so my mom said: FINITO, you are a doofus and now  we go home.  And so she dragged me to the gate and just the moment she opened the gate a little bit, I saw something…

A FOX! A real one, who meandered around the wood piles of our neighbor… imagine that… a fox at noon! I switched to hunting mode immediately, jumped through the gate what still was ajar and tried to get that fox thingy. Sadly my mom is far away to be a hunting buddy…  she got stuck with her afterdeck on the gate and one of her stilts got entangled with the goal post…

I pulled on the leash like crazy while 3 things happened at the same time: mom’s jacket said : rrrrrripppp and was ready for the trashcan, but her stern was free, the leg what was jammed at that goal post was bend to a direction not even Mr. Darwin would dream about and Mom’s “security belt” ( a friggin jogging leash with an elastic belt) was stretched over the limit, therefore the hook that holds the leash died and the whole belt thingy flipped back and gave my mom a solid low blow.

Butt hey! We were free now and  ready to chase that fox! Sadly the hunting saboteur tried to mess up my fox hunt and hung on that goal post for  dear life  like a boozer shipwrecked with her left hand while the wild foxhunter was on her right hand… till the thumb of her left hand was bend to her wrist…

Then the fox disappeared. Maaaaan! And a totally disappointed  silvermistygrey hunter dragged his mom home… were she howled her ARRROOO ! through 1300 km of fiber optic cable in the ear of her dad while I had a Spikebone… butt that’s NO replacement for a whole  fox. Just saying…

What we learnt:

– a jacket can turn into a “wrecket” within seconds… ahhhmmm…. have I mentioned that it was THE SAME  ole thingy  what she wore as she got  a free iditarod sledging…? and btw: it’s not a good picture, but my mom wears FOX SOCKS… they say “renard” that’s french for fox… that’s literally like to add insult to injury…

– an ankle can get the size of a potato also within seconds… but the shoe problem is solved for a while, because not even the worn out ole uggs  will fit…

thumb<— that’s  NOT my mom’s paw…but it looked very close

– the people who think they have a special knack, because they can bend their thumbs to the wrist,  are wrong. Efurrybuddy can do that, it’s just a question of the circumstances and the pain treshold…

– if you have a damaged ankle AND a damaged thumb you can outfox the pain nerves because they have no clue what kind of signal they have to send to your hypothalamus, so it ends with an error 403 and you are practically pain free… in theory…

– I never will take my mom to a hunt again , she is abysmal talent-free and with her rude words she put’s the game off…

– jogging leashes from a discounter to a blow out price can strike back and give you a real blow, at least that bargain was no bluff package…

So. Now I’m waiting for my dad, who comes home today at noon  (sadly with the whole interior of that hospital again ). I bet he agrees with me, that my mom did a bad job this time. To “take care” looks different, I think.

And when he walks on that Stairway to Hell he will feel like a fakir, because the mats on the steps have a gazillion of little knobs what are like nails on your paws… and therefore the Weim has his own beaten path…

  1. Thank you for that walk through the walk from hell. Poor Mum. And good luck to Dad re-entering the mad house 😀

  2. Midwestern Plant Girl says:

Easy needs to be easy on mommy! She had to take care of daddy. Kinda serendipitous that you were wearing fox socks. Hope you heal up quick!

  3. Cupcake says:

Poor Mom! Potato ankle and flexi-thumb. And poor you! Busted leash and no fox. I guess it just wasn’t meant to be. At least you can cuddle with your dad today and give him the silver mist medicine that he needs.

    Love and licks,

  4. cecilia07 says:

  5. DailyMusings says:

Another adventure- your poor mum is getting it from all directions- I am glad your dad will be coming home-everyone needs to rest up! 🙂

  6. Goose says:

I bet the fox says, “Whew so glad the mast hunter Easy was attached to that crazy fence post that wears fox socks.” That fox does not know how lucky it was. I do hope that your mom heals up fast. Maybe you all should have a live in nurse to take care of you all. Happy to hear your dad is coming home. Take care of them both brother.

  7. Well dear Easy it sounds like the only winner yesterday was the fox. Between your Mom getting stuck on a fence, you being semi-permanently attached to her thanks to that chastity belt/jogging leash (!) thing keeping you from THE HUNT – it was a classic FAIL fox-hunt. BUTT, your Dad is coming home today and THAT almost makes all the pain and agony worth it yes???? You’ll get your Dad to snuggle with again and this time, let’s hope when that catheter and stuff is removed it STAYS removed along with the pain your Dad has had to endure……Nurse Easy to the rescue – with two patients this time – Mom AND Dad!!

    Hugs, Sammy

  8. katiebblogs says:

Oh no your poor mom! And that lucky sneaky fox. Want to hear something funny Easy? Just yesterday morning we were eating breakfast and the 3 year old says, there is a baby deer right there. But it wasn’t a deer, it was a fox right outside our window! And that little pup of a Pixie went nuts but she would have been no match like you, that’s for sure.

  9. Darn, a good hunt spoiled. Your poor momma though…
Glad your dad is coming home – hope he mends up fast!

  10. PigLove says:

oh dear piggy heavens brother. You do know how to paint a picture. Your poor mom. They are so bad at hunting. Once one of the purr things brought mom a mouse from their hunt. Mom was up on the sofa screaming because the mouse wasn’t wearing gloves. Unfortunately from the screaming and waving of her arms, she fell off the couch onto the floor. Shakes piggy head. You need me with you next time bro. We could get that fox in no time at all. Give your mom hogs and kisses from me and tell her to get better. I know ya’ll can’t wait until your dad gets home – I’m so excited for him and ya’ll. I really pray that things went better this time 🙂 XOXO – Bacon

  11. Sarge says:

    Hey Easy!
Wow, what an entertaining, if not quite successful, hunting experience! BOL OMD a real fox in the territory cannot be tolerated and you still did your very best. In the end he did run away and out of your field, so that’s a win if you ask me. I’m thinking you might want to get your Mom an ice pack for her sore stilt. Just sayin’.
    Grr and Woof,
    Sarge, Police Commish

  12. Oh your poor Mum. How will she go out and buy you treats if you do that!

  13. Mental Mama says:

Y’all manage to have the most interesting adventures. 🙂

  14. Hope your Paw feels better when he gets home from the hospital. Be nice to your Mum. She has lots of things to take care of.
Stay away from the fox, badger, deer, antelope, alligators, porcupines, elephants, and especially robins; they can be dangerous.

  15. Clowie says:

Easy, my bipeds have failed me in a hunting situation – I think they’re all useless at it.

I hope your mom feels better soon – that sounds painful! I think the jacket and the jogging lead will make good company for each other in the trash!

Best wishes to your dad – try to look after him better than you did your mom!

  16. Easy, I do not think that fox outfoxed you, I think it was your mom! She conveniently got hung up on the gate and at the same time, one of her paws was caught too? That seems a bit fishy as we all know humans are not that talented. Now, for her thumb-to-wrist debacle…maybe if she was holding the leash correctly, she would not have suffered such atrocity. Just sayin…this seems like it was planned…lure the Silver Misty Grey Weim to the fox and then hold him back with all ones might so cannot properly hunt?
    *shakes head in disbelief*

I hope your dad is feeling better my friend!

  17. that foot looks mighty sore ….you had better do some major sweetness on your Mom so she forgives you

  18. catfromhell says:

Soooo Easy, is yous trying to damage your Mommy? Your Daddy is ill, yous has a sore paw that yous should not be chasing foxes on and yous beats the c#*p out of your Mommy!
Mes thinks mes will makes yous a honorary Cat From Hell!!!!
PS Wes still purraying for your Daddy, now we will add your poor Mommy to our purrayers

  19. Kyla says:

Mom’s gonna take care of Dad when she can’t even take care of herself? You have some rough times ahead. You have to not only do the thinking for your pack, you’re gonna have to take care of the invalids also.

  20. Mom’s foot looks pretty swollen and it can’t be feeling good. You all need to wrap up in bubble wrap. So happy Dad is coming home today. You all climb on the big bed and take care of each other. Hugs!

  21. Two French Bulldogs says:

  27. Stella Rose says:

What the living hell happens when you and your momma goes outside Easy….my word…I am afeared for you to even step foot off the porch anymore…between foxes and such. Your mom gets pretty beat up lately. I also WORRY about your dad but I know you will be extra gentle with him, cos he is old..not as young and lovely as your mom. Well that is what I tell my mom when I need an extra treat. WE are sorry for the cussing so much lately but we have seemed to developed that habit as of late, ….stella rose

  28. Easy, what a thing to happen. A fox at noon! You were a real trooper going after that fox…I feel for you man. My mom spoils a lot of potentially fun hunts too. Your description of events is hilarious…sorry my Siamese bro but I couldn’t help but laugh hilariously….reminded me so much of my mom. hahaha

    Loves ya bro,

  29. Emmadog says:

Man you all have the bad luck day in and day out! You need to take better care of your mom, maybe then she will let you hunt a bit.

  30. My dogness Easy, your poor mom. you can send her swollen foot here to IdahoIceland – we hear that cold helps the swelling. Very good to hear that your Dad is coming home, you and mom better just stay in and cuddle with dad
    Mr Bailey & Hazel

  31. Wow. That wore me out just reading about that misadventure. The ankle gave even me some ouchies all the way over here. Y’all stay safe now. Dad’s coming home.

  32. kolytyi says:

OMG, Easy, I’m afraid that there is a too strong competitive spirit in your furmily, and you and your mom try to outrival your dad for the gold medal in (temporal) malfunction.

  33. Misaki says:

Oh your poor mummy, hope her ankle is better soon. And maybe lay off the fox hunting till she’s better xx

Wrong I tell ya! wells, I sure hopes your Moms heals up fast so that she can take care of your Pops! Paws crossed you don’t see that Fox dude anytimes soon…I don’t thinks your Moms has any more body parts to break! ☺
    Ruby ♥

  37. Howdy Easy. Jeez, mate. If only your mum had let you go, it would have been a totally different story and she wouldn’t have a fat ankle and twisted thumb. We think you should have been allowed to hunt that cheeky fox but our mum says no, no, no. She says, your mum did the right thing to hang on to you. Who can figure the mind of a coo coo in the head woman, sheesh. We’ll keep paws crossed your mum feels better soon and that your dad is home to snuggle with you soon. Take care all.
No worries, and love, Stella and Rory

  38. Frankie and Ernie says:

  39. Shame, Easy! Your Mum is the only one healthy enough to go shopping and bring home your FOOD. Don’t want to lay her up too like Dad! You’ll STARVE before your dew claw has time to heal!

  40. dorysbackyard says:

Oh my Easy….so sorry your hunt was cut short…but it sounds like your Mama just wasn’t cut out for your type of hunting!

  43. Life is always an adventure with you Easy! Your poor mom!!

    Your pals,

What a story you’ve got to entertain Dad with when he gets home though. That Mom of yours shouldn’t be allowed out. No wonder you have to keep her on a lead.

  47. dezizworld says:

OMC Easy, yous so funny. But me guesses yous mommy dusn’t fink so wight now at least. MOL Dat wusn’t vewy nice of you. How wuz da dew claw after all this? By da way, weez did ask wound ’bout it, and evewypawdy we talked to sed it wuz legal in da UK and usually dun by bweeders, but can be dun by da VET purrsun. Hope yous get it worked out soon, and weez’ll be purrayin’ fur yous all but specially yous daddy.

    Luv ya’

    Dezi and Lexi

    • The dew claw is still inflamed, but a little better. We sadly live in France, so it is only possible if the vet says it’s medically indicated. we will ask him on our next appointment if he thinks it would be better to remove that bad dew claws :O)

      • dezizworld says:

Oh weez so sowwy. Weez sumtimes not suwe what laws apply where over seas, cuz weez not sure which rule yous all awe under. But weez glad it can be dun ifin da vet will agwee. Weez sure hope hims will, cuz fur yous bweed da dew claws awen’t needed fur any function ‘cept gettin hurt. Weez supwised yous bweeder didn’t do it when yous wuz born. But weez’ll keep purrayin’ fur yous and yous furmily.

        Luv ya’

  49. fredrieka says:

  50. OMC Easy! That was an ALMOST adventure for you! What a major calamity for your Mum and Yahoo your Dad is coming home!!!!! Hope your Mum’s injured appendages are feeling better today. Thank goodness she had the grip of death on you or you may have gone on a grand adventure and gotten lost and THEN what a story would have been told! Loves to you all because WE need a nap after all of that!

  51. Yikes, Easy and here I thought bundling Sam up to walk in the snow was tough! Your Mom deserves a medal and then some. Glad to hear your Pops is coming home. Curl up with him and let that dew claw heal big guy. 🙂

  52. Ranger says:

OMD….. dat was da most exciting Fox Hunt da I ever did read. Suspense, Action, Injury, and TREATS.

Sounds like you need even more healing POTPs over at your place. Take it easy on your peeps…. dey are gettin old and you don’t want dem both down at the same time. Tell Mom to ICE dat monster ankle.

  53. Oh man, Easy! Your momma sounds like a total FAIL at fox hunting. Next time try snapping the leash at your end so you’re free to chase the fox and leave the AMATEUR behind!

  54. Sage says:

Oh, brother, Easy. Clearly that fox wasn’t thinking when it got into your sights. Your Mom looks like she ended up on the wrong side of this adventure. I sure hope she gets better really soon! After all, there are a lot more adventures out there 😉

I’m so glad your Dad is getting home again and all are healing quickly!!

  55. MadSnapper says:

this is soooo funny. i have never seen one of these post office, i would loved one when i was 7 but way back then we had rural delivery, no post office. LOL… wish i could send you some of oursun puddles.

  56. We have foxes near our house. And you know what they do sometimes? They jump over the fence and come in our yard. Usually when the dogs are inside. But they can smell the fox, even through closed windows. I swear one of these days, one or all of the dogs are gonna go right through that window.

Wags (and purrs) from Life with Dogs and Cats.

  57. Mumsy's Little Chancy Man says:

Oh, no sweet Easy that fox hunt was a disaster! We are so sorry you didn’t get that fox and your poor sweet mum is all bunged up on foot and thumb. Lot of healing needs to go on at your place. We hope your claw, your mum’s thumb and ankle and your dad’s issues are healing nicely and all of you will be 100% very soon. Maybe the next time you go fox hunting you better leave all leashes and your mum at home…you think? Or a better idea might be to just leave those fox alone. Hugs and nose kisses

  58. Jan K says:

There is just never a dull moment around there, is there, Easy? Glad to hear your Dad is home….hope he’s doing as well as possible with all of the hospital hardware.

  59. OMC, you guys need your own reality show. Glad dad is coming home and we’re sending purrs to mom and please EASY be good and give your pawrents a break. PS love that post office game!

  60. the leash belt coming back on Mom had MY Mom ROFL and LHAO all at once!! As she used to walk 3 Sibes all at same time, in the days before all these fancy leashes…she used 3, 6 foot (i.8meters) leather leashes. She kept the male on her right hand and the two girls leads on her left. All 3 leashes were wrapped around her hands and wrist so that even if she fell, those leads were NOT coming off her body!!! warm healing hugs and purrs to Mom

    • hahaha I walked the same way with the huskies. in worst case I would end as a sled but I never would lose a leash.
it was a challenge, because one walked slowly and the other one was always in iditarod-mode :o)
