….hey, don’t run away! Come back, it’s something with mud!
Yes. we try to make our easter decoration. With mud, but the bipeds call it cement. Nikitas and Bellas  mom made some fabulous decorations with mud and so we got the idea to gave it a try too.
Mom said we need a new decoration for easter, what we can use outside in front of our door. So the best choice is: mud.
Normally we would use a pink flamingo what my mom bought once in a store in U.S. It came with seasonal clothing, so my mom thought it could be a guy for the whole year. As the beast arrived in my crib my dad was shocked, because it was an eye killer. If you ask me, that’s more a SHAMINGO… and you have to be shameless brave… very brave to place that thingy in front of your crib, because that’s the thingy what’s pictured in every lexicon behind the word: embarrassment …
Fortunately the inmates of my kraal thought the same and after the first night the Shamingo disappeared. Without a trace. If you see a homeless plastic Shamingo, please don’t call us…
Butt back to the roots mud. We planned to make a lamb, a bunny and some eggs. Therefore we used common baking moulds my mom bought in her junk store last year. The egg mould we got from a chocolate egg, what she ate alone. Butt I’m not resentful, she got her punishment as she entered the scale…
You can use quick-setting  or common cement for this decoration and if you want you can mix it with color ( water-soluble). We used tile cement, because that’s white and better for a lamb and a bunny than the grey color of common cement.
can we eat it now? No? ... DRATS!

can we eat it now? No? … DRATS!

We prepared the baking moulds with oil first, then we filled the mud inside.  For the first egg ( we only have one egg-mould, more chocolate eggs would kill our scale) we mixed the tile cement with common tinting paint, named “cherry”.
If I would see cherries in that color I wouldn’t buy them, that’s for sure. Butt it’s somewhat red and  different than the bunny- or lamb-mud. Now comes the hardest part: WAITING! We are not good in waiting, so my mom always pressed her gripping device in the mud, to see if it is ready. Useless, it needs some days  or in worst case we have to wait till easter….or till christmas I think.
VIOLA! the (F)artwork is done. We have 3 eggs a bunny and a lamb. Sadly we had no other color than red, so my smart mom adulterated mixed the mud with common watercolors. Now one egg is green and one blue… What? you can’t se the color? Me neither, hahaha. Butt if a mom says it’s blue or green we should let her stay in phantasialand…
To wreck spiff  up the lamb and the bunny, mom used  finishing compound what she smacked on the two mud-thingies with a paintbrush.
That’s all…and viola… Bob’s your uncle…

btw: I changed my mind, please call me if you see a SHAMINGO… that’s not really the result we expected… butt the idea was not bad, huh?

Paws on kitchen counter you is allowed to? If we does that, we be grounded for 9 lives!

    • It’s not really allowed, specially when I touch the cooktop with my paws :o) Fortunately it is locked, because I’m able to start that thingy :o)

      • Shiva & Jaya says:

We knows how to switching TV channels!

      • oh that’s great – I wish I could do that too… specially when my dad will watch that boring sports channel :o)

      • Shiva & Jaya says:

Dad liking da sports, but no ever watches at home. Dad can playing football wiz goals and yellow and red cards. He in semi-purrofessional team years ago, and he now in team of Ministery of Foreign Affairs, but them playing only 1-2 times a year and usually, dad plays 15-20 minutes because he always gets red card!

      • oh that means he is the best, right? and to give other players a chance to win too, he has to take a break after 15-20 minutes ? :o)

  2. mollieandalfie says:

Oh Easy, those are FABULOUS, the staff did a good job 🙂 xxxoxxxx

  3. Well, you certainly got texture in your Easter decs! Perhaps you could aim for a Chinese Army of eggs?

  4. Gosh easy – your Mom is ever so clever making eggs, a rabbit and a sheep…..However, I truly did like the Shamingo guy…..I’m sure the entire town looked forward to seeing the Shamingo in his/her various outfits for occasions. Never a dull moment in your crib is there!!

    Hugs, Sam

    • hahaha she could be a good hen too, her eggs are not bad :o) The Shamingo sadly disappeared without a trace, no one saw it or no one has it in his back yard now. Probably he went to south because it was to cold here?

  5. Compared to some DIY projects at your house, these were a huge success! They’re adorable! Plus NEW TOYS! Too bad the eggs are flat on the bottom, otherwise they’d be better than the baseball I found in the field. Have fun with them.

    Love and licks,

  6. fozziemum says:

Easy Bravo to mum….I love them 🙂 mum has inspired me now….goodness…it’s like a chain of inspiration bwahahahaa we all love crafternoons!!I love the soft colors and indeed some bird eggs are soft blue so not too far from realisitic….the Shamingo could perhaps be nesting on the eggs…..bwahaahahah and the bunny and sheepie are very sweet too!! well done mum hugs Fozziemum….who will be getting her craft on now 😉 xxxxx

  7. DailyMusings says:

I got nervous when I saw DIY atop your post- but was pleasantly surprised to see how nice your sheep, rabbit & eggs came out! I did like the Shamingo- maybe he will return. Your mom is quite the crafter I must say! Have a marvelous Monday !

  8. fredrieka says:

I am surprised you did not take one and run with it. That would have been an easter egg hunt for your momwithoutpaws

  9. cecilia07 says:

Easy you do such a great job as narrator to your peeps DIY projects. Your opinions are fair, well delivered and most of all F U N N Y!
Mom says she sends your mom a great big HIGH FIVE for her efforts and Mom thinks the lamb and bunny and eggs are adorable
    Hugs madi your bfff

  10. merbear74 says:

I think they turned out great! Mine would have cracked I know it..

  11. Goose says:

I would say that this DIY project went pretty well, the crib did not start on fire, no one lost a finger or other limb, and you can tell what the items are. Could it be that your staffs skills are improving? I will keep an eye out for SHAMINGO.

  12. I don’t think that was a disaster at all!!!! I think they came out great! I expected waaay worse! BOL! Ask your Mom has ever seen the movie “Pink Flamingos” (I think that was the name) it was a “cult classic” when mom was in college in the stone age BOL!

  13. dogdaz says:

Very clever and creative. Do stay away from the stove, Easy. We worry.

  14. A job well done. I can see the colored eggs and laughed when you said ye mom got the mold by eating the chocolate. Clever and recycling. Yr crib is gonna look good for Easter. Gambler always gets the cats food, if he can’t reach it he just jumps on the table. I though forsure that is what he was going to do for the video. Have a great day.

    • It’s a little uncommon that we had no blood, no tears and no curses this time. Maybe it’s the influence of spring. I don’t know why all dogs love cat food, Easy always would like to visit the cat lady here to check the bowls of her cats. Unfortunately for him, her cats were greedy too :o)

  15. Hey, at least none of your peeps had to go to the hospital with that DIY project.

BTW, Mommy should know better than to eat a BROWNIE while reading your blog! She was eating the brownie (our poor scale) anyway, she was enjoying it — until the part about mixing the mud in the molds — then she was looking at her brownie all crossed eyed. It was a funny site to look at our Mommy looking like that!

Also, we thought the Flamingo would be cute on the front lawn. Our Mommy will have to keep an eye out for one. (I think the neighbors think she’s nuts already — so adding a Flamingo would be like icing on the cake.)

  16. And we will add no one was poisoned in the process of making these (yet) ….sounds like a good win all around.

  17. Clowie says:

I can see the eggs are different colours. I think it’s time for you to add a special touch and make them smell nice, Easy!

  18. Shamingo BOL BOL we need one of those. Wow well done mum and nobody had to go to ER LOL. We need to make some of those eggs and I can then chuck them at the cats when they sneak into my garden. Have a marvellous Monday.
    Best wishes Molly

  19. We’re very impurressed! Those were cute! Do you want us to send you another flamingo? 😉

  20. Easy once again I am cryin’ laughin’ which I needed today.. oh myl I gotta say I like the Easter artwork. And I liked Shamingo but I am a lover of plastic flamingos.. don’t think badly of me.

You sure have a talented bunch there Easy!

  22. Frankie and Ernie says:

We once saw a YARD with like 87 SHAMINGOS in it… butt they were all NEKKID.
Your mom did an amazing job with the eggs and the bunny and lamb. She does the mostest INTERESTING DIY Pawjects. OUR mom would have made a Complete WRECK of it fur SURE.

  23. PigLove says:

WOW – That is so cool! How artistic – how adorable and Easterish! Great job ya’ll did. XOXO – Bacon
P.S. My mom kind of likes the Shamingo – snorts. Help me.

  24. Kyla says:

Easy, you produce better looking eggs than that twice every day. Yes, there is such a thing as brown eggs. Just put them in a kiln, bake them, and proudly put them around your house and yard for the world to see. No disaster anymore.

  25. Hey Easy, didn’t see the Shamingo…but will let you know if we do. I think the mud decorations came out pretty cool!

  26. Easy, where I live in Florida those Shamingos are everywhere! It is still considered an embarrassment BUT…the idiots here don’t care. We actually have real, LIVE Shamingos as well…but they don’t dress up in ridiculous outfits. They just eat and poop everywhere. The eggs, lamb and bunny…well, what can I say?!? You didn’t even paint eyeballs on them so they cannot see where they are decorating. Seems odd but your choice.
    Happy Monday, pal.

  27. Will and Eko says:

What, no Easy cast to go with lamb and rabbit??

  28. Misaki says:

    Mr Bailey, Hazel & Greta

  31. OH! I like these thingeys. My peeps would have no idea how to make them. I’ve got my eye out for a Shamingo….

  32. dollythedoxie says:

Easy we think your mom is very clever those turned out great! Can’t she paint them now with acrylics or something like that? If my mom tried that it would be a disaster! BTW she LOVES flamingos and I would suspect has yours. We call it shabby chic. Love Dolly

  33. Wow your staff are so clever

  34. Emma says:

  37. The OP Pack says:

Well, we have to tell you that we think your results are wonderful!!! Mom says that the little bipeds would love to make those and paint them too. And about flamingos, Mom once had a neighbor who got “flamingo-ed” for her 40th birthday – 40 bright pink flamingos all over the front lawn!!!

Woos – Phantom, Ciara, and Lightning

  38. gentlestitches says:

We crafists over here are very impressed. They will make good ornaments all year around. The are all my favorite but I particularly like the lamb. he/she could get a gig for a Christmas display too. 🙂

  39. Your mom did a great job Easy, maybe she can find a cool Easy mold. That would be sweet!

  40. OwyheeStar says:

Myself I loved it. I started a paper-mache Weimaraner pup some time ago–we are talking years, not months ago. It is still stark naked. I am impressed your Mum does all these things. I am lazy-butt I guess. :O)
Or maybe I can blame it on the monkey I married……..I love him but he is high-maintenance.

    • I have an unfinished paper-mache thingy too. the worst is that I have to wait and some days later I have no time or pleasure to carry on :o) but it’s a halloween thingy so there is no hurry :o)

  41. Run A Muck Ranch says:

What a great use for mud!

  42. spittythekitty says:

Disaster? I don’t see no freaking disaster! Those things are CUTE! You wanna see DIY disasters, c’mon over here, my friend. Or visit PinterestFAIL! Ha ha ha!

  43. Nikitaland says:

Hey Easy! We think they turned out really fabulous! Nice job on this project, but I agree the waiting for them to dry is the hardest part! I used Quickrete (quick setting cement) for my molds and they dry really fast! I did want to give you a huge tip for the next time you make something in a mold – – once you pour your cement into your mold, tap a wooden spoon around the mold. This releases any air bubbles caught in the cement and they rise to the top & pop. Your eggs would have turned out really smooth on the sides if you tapped on the mold. Trust me, I learned a lot along the way working with cement. But I really loved your Easter project and how they turned out!

One thing that my Mommy saw on Pinterest that she would love to make are styrofoam Peeps! Yep, someone used some thick styrofoam and carved out some peeps and stuck them in a flower pot on their front porch, then they spray painted them hot pink and yellow, and made the little black eyes and a black dot for the nose! They were so adorable, and very very crafty! I love stuff like this! ❤

    • Oh thanks for the tip with the wooden spoon. I will use it for the next thingy. It droves me crazy as I saw the bubbles and I really had no idea how to avoid it:o) I saw christmas trees made with styrofoam, they were just great :o)

  44. kolytyi says:

Oh, Easy, I think your mom’s hard work has its fruits. She cooked sorrel soup (GREEN!) and spinach (GREEN!) so that she has become so clever that she was capable of inventing HARD-SOFT-BOILED EGGS!

  45. Kurome says:

Wow!! Your Mom is very creative!!
Hope you have great Easter 🙂

  46. Lee says:

Oh Easy I went back and read the last three post, your Mom really knows how to entertain with her storys of life. Gosh I just don’ know what to say. Easy you need to come and sew some grass seed for me. The hard winter has taken my grass away.
    Thanks for the laugh
    Sweet William The Scot

  47. pawedblog says:

Now, now Easy! You mislead us! There was nothing disastrous about this DIY project, I think they all look lovely… I think you should give your mummy a big congratulatory, slobbery kiss!
Hugs, Carrie (Myfie, Ellie and Millie) x

  48. Andrea says:

My church in California used to raise money for mission trips by “flocking” people. For a nominal fee you could pay us to creep onto someones lawn (stealth ninja like) and stick about 50 shamingos all over their lawn before ringing the doorbell and peeling out. To get rid of the shamingos, you could flock someone else. 🙂 We made enough for a good many trips that way.

  49. wyatt says:

That is very clever. I think we will need to go in search of a bunny baking mold, RIGHT AWAY!

  50. Dalton says:

I’m impressed and I have to admit that I can see a little blue in one of the eggs – well done mum!!
